The following garments/clothing are approved to wear at Hale MS per Board Policy 2601-R: Student Dress Code.
ID cards and lanyards shall be worn around the neck and visible AT ALL TIMES. IDs with lanyards will be issued to all students on schedule pick-up days during the summer of 2025. Replacement ID cards cost $5.00 and must be purchased in cash in the school office before or after school.
TOPS:
All tops must be plain (no designs or logos) in the color according to your grade level:
6th Grade: Navy Blue
7th Grade: Gray
8th Grade: Black
The following is a list of permissible tops:
- Collared shirt/dresses (polo style)
- Sweaters
- Sweatshirts (No hoods)
Bare midriffs, low cut necklines, off the shoulder, or bare back tops are prohibited.
- Garments must be of appropriate length, and must be cut and/or fit to meet these requirements while sitting and/or bending.
- No sheer or thin material that exposes undergarments.
- No low cut tops for boys or girls. Undergarments must not be exposed.
BOTTOMS:
All bottoms must be plain (no designs or logos) in khaki. The following is a list of permissible bottoms:
- slacks/pants (no sweatpants or jeans)
- Shorts
- Skirts
Shorts, skorts, skirts, and dresses should be of a modest length (fingertip length).
Gym shorts need to be worn under skirts and dresses. Leggings may be worn under skirts, shorts, or jumpers. Leggings should be in the same color as your uniform shirt.
Leggings may not be worn as pants.
- No excessively baggy pants.
- No sagging.
- No pajama bottoms.
- No sheer or thin material for bottoms that exposes undergarments.
- No pants with holes.
SHOES:
Closed toe shoes with backs are recommended, athletic shoes preferred. No house shoes, slippers, or excessively thin flip-flops.
ACCESSORIES:
- Jewelry and other accessories shall not convey drugs, gangs, weapons, or violence. Jewelry/accessories that pose a safety concern for the student or others are prohibited.
- Caps, Bonnets, Durags, Ski Masks, Sunglasses, and Hats or Hoodies shall NOT be worn in the school building or classrooms unless prescribed by a physician, with a doctor’s note.
CLOTHING ASSISTANCE:
- No student will be denied an education due to a bona fide financial inability to obtain clothing that complies with the school dress code. Any student for whom compliance with the school dress code poses a bona fide financial burden may come to the office to request clothing.
PENALTIES/SANCTIONS:
- Students who elect not to conform to the dress and grooming rules set forth by this policy will be provided a uniform to wear for the day.
- The fact that something is not specifically listed is not a valid excuse for dressing in a manner contrary to, not complementary to, or disrespectful of the intent outlined by this uniform code. Students who elect not to conform to the dress and grooming rules set forth by TPS policy 2601-R, and the Hale Middle School Uniform Code will be subject to disciplinary actions and/or sanctions as defined by the TPS Behavior Response PlanStudent and Family Guide to Success.
- Administration reserves the authority to determine any specific individual garment, or item non-compliant with the dress code.
Our dress code is subject to change if the district policy changes.
Students who elect not to conform to the dress guidelines set forth by TPS and Hale Middle School will be subject to disciplinary actions and/or sanctions.
