Information and Updates

Welcome to the Tulsa Public Schools newsletter! Here, you’ll find the latest updates, important dates, and helpful resources to keep your family informed and engaged. With only three months left of school, consistent attendance is key to finishing the year strong!

You may see or hear mention about an audit of Tulsa Public Schools this week. Since 2022, Tulsa Public Schools has cooperated with the state auditor’s office on an in-depth review of our district’s finances. We always welcome constructive feedback and opportunities to improve in our work.

The district and the state auditor’s office are largely in agreement about areas requiring improvement and most of those we have addressed over the two-and-a-half year course of the audit. Under my leadership, we have worked hard and changed areas that needed enhancement or revision, in collaboration with the auditor’s team. There may be additional guidance or modifications based on the report we hope the auditor releases today, and we welcome the opportunity to continue improving. I am gratified that the state auditor’s office has completed the review of Tulsa Public Schools.

It’s important to note that this audit looks at past finances and practices from Tulsa Public Schools. While the audit has been underway, we haven’t just been waiting for the results. We’ve taken steps to improve our internal processes already, because we want to make the best use of any resources available to serve our students – your children. For those interested in learning more about the audit and steps Tulsa Public Schools has taken to improve our internal controls, please view this additional resource.

Don’t forget to enroll for next year!
Due to the recent inclement weather days, we have extended our first enrollment window for the 2025-2026 school year to give you more time to enroll your student. The deadline to submit your enrollment application is now Friday, Feb. 28. Don’t miss out - get your student’s application in soon!

Families can enroll online 24/7 at enroll.tulsaschools.org. Click here for an easy instruction guide for enrolling your student. Our online process allows you to submit your application even if you don’t have all of the necessary enrollment documents ready at your fingertips – you are able to go back and add them in later. What’s most important to get into the program you prefer for your child: submit an initial application by Feb 28.

If you’re looking for information on your options, you can learn about all 78 of our schools and their programs on our website. You can even use our Find a School tool to search for your home address and find the school that best meets your student’s needs. For more information and frequently asked questions about the enrollment process, please visit www.tulsaschools.org/enroll.

FAFSA graduation requirement for seniors
All seniors must complete a FAFSA application or complete an opt-out form before March 26 in order to graduate and participate in senior activities like prom. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) helps eligible students obtain financial aid for two- or four-year college, technical school, or career training programs, and it is open now! Funding is awarded on a first come, first served basis, so students should submit their application as soon as possible.

If your student still needs to complete the FAFSA, our team can help! You can speak with your student’s counselor for one-on-one support with the FAFSA or opt-out form. You can also make an appointment to meet in-person or on Zoom with a TPS team member who can assist. Interpretation services are available - please be sure to note your language preference in your appointment request. Visit www.tulsaschools.org/FAFSA for more information or to make an appointment. We understand that some families may have questions or concerns about how your family’s information might be used or shared. Please know that Tulsa Public Schools is doing all we can to support and protect you and your family. Completing the FAFSA or the opt-out form is necessary simply to fulfill the graduation requirement.

Save the Date: Indian Education Student Social Intertribal Dance
Indian Education is excited to announce that the Social Intertribal Dance of 2025 will be held on April 12 from 2-10pm at Rogers College High School gymnasium at 3909 E. 5th Pl. Please mark your calendar to join us as we gather to celebrate our traditional dances with students and the community. Everyone is invited to come out to participate, observe, or even volunteer. The full agenda of events will soon be delivered to each school.

The Indian Education program’s goal is to provide Indigenous culture, enrichment and opportunities to Tulsa Public Schools students, staff and families. To help prepare students, the team is available to teach about social dances, protocols and what to expect at this event. You can find a guide to Social Dance and Pow Wows here. If you have any questions, please contact Shari Williams.
